Know what the documented export covers

Jobber's official client-export guide describes CSV and vCard exports, with administrator and plan-related requirements. It directs users through Clients and the export action, with files delivered by email. Check that current guide for the available options in your account. Official source

A client list is not, by itself, proof that all related quotes, jobs, invoices, payment history, or attachments are included. Review those entities separately before ending access to the old system.

Make an export inventory

Keep every original export unchanged. Perform cleanup in a working copy and record the mapping decisions.

Preserve the identifiers

Retain source customer, property, job, invoice, and payment IDs wherever available. A customer's display name is not enough to maintain all those links.

Treat identifiers as text in spreadsheets. Check for lost leading zeros, altered long numbers, and address fields that were combined or split unexpectedly.

If different files use different customer identifiers, resolve the relationship explicitly. Do not join them solely by a name that could be shared by more than one customer.

Test a representative customer journey

Choose a sample containing a customer with more than one property, an open estimate, a completed job, an outstanding invoice, and a verified payment where those records exist.

Import only the supported data into an appropriate test environment. Check the resulting customer and job relationships, then compare the original and imported amounts and statuses.

GoPlumber's current product materials describe CSV/XLSX customer and job imports, including common Jobber exports. That does not establish that every source entity or field is supported in every import path. Confirm the current tool behavior and preserve anything not mapped.

Reconcile counts and financial meaning

Compare the number of source and imported records, not just whether the upload completed. Review duplicates, rejected rows, missing relationships, and ambiguous fields.

For invoices, distinguish original total, balance remaining, payments, and credit adjustments. A zero balance does not, on its own, prove that a payment transaction exists.

Keep access until the review is complete

Before changing or canceling the old service, verify your contractual and data-access arrangements and ensure the necessary records are preserved. Do not assume a later export will remain available under the same conditions.

Document the cutover point and any work entered afterward. A migration is ready when the team can trace active jobs and customer balances in the new workflow, with unresolved gaps explicitly recorded—not merely when the first client CSV has been uploaded.
