Plumbing Review-Request Texts: Ask for Honest Feedback
Ask customers for an honest review of their actual experience and make the request easy to act on. Do not offer a reward for a review, request a particular rating, or route only happy customers to the public review link.
In this guide
Ask for feedback, not a predetermined result
A review request should invite the customer's own account of the service. Avoid asking for five stars or writing the review for them.
Google's published guidance says businesses can share a review link or QR code and should not offer incentives for reviews. Use the current platform guidance when preparing your process, rather than copying a competitor's promotional script. The official source is linked below. Official source

Use a simple text request
Hi [first name], thank you for working with [company] on [short service
description]. You are welcome to share an honest review of your
experience here: [verified review link].
Thank you for your feedback.
[name/company]
Keep the service description brief and appropriate for the channel. Test the link yourself to make sure it points to the correct business profile.
Use an email when more context helps
Subject: Feedback on your service with [company]
Hi [first name],
Thank you for choosing [company]. We welcome an honest review of
your experience with job [reference].
Review link: [verified link]
For a service or billing question, you can also contact [contact].
That contact is available regardless of whether you leave a review.
Thank you,
[name]
Providing a service contact should not become a gate that sends dissatisfied customers away from the public review option. Keep the invitation neutral.
Choose a consistent, relevant process
Decide when an eligible completed service receives a request and who checks that the message fits the job status. Do not send a celebratory completion request when the record still shows a confusing or unresolved handoff.
At the same time, do not select recipients solely by whether they are expected to leave a positive rating. Build the process around genuine customer experiences rather than manipulating which opinions become public.
Respect communication preferences and requests to stop. A review request is optional, not a condition of service or support.
Avoid these wording traps
| Wording or practice | Better approach |
|---|---|
| “Leave five stars” | Ask for an honest review |
| Reward for posting | Request feedback without an incentive |
| “Only happy customers click here” | Keep the review invitation neutral |
| Staff-written review | Let the customer describe their own experience |
| Repeated pressure | Respect the customer's choice not to respond |
Do not add an unsupported claim such as “your review will move us to number one.” The request should be about feedback, not a ranking promise.
Track the process without judging individuals
Record whether the request was sent and whether any service question needs a response. Avoid creating a customer score based on the rating you hoped they would give.
If a customer raises a concern, use the complaint-response workflow. Do not make assistance conditional on removing or changing a review.
Review the actual customer experience
Repeated comments about appointment communication, invoice clarity, or follow-through can identify operational improvements. Fixing those issues is more meaningful than endlessly revising the request text.
Use genuine feedback to improve the service record and handoffs. The template's job is simply to make it easy for customers to share their own experience voluntarily.
